KALIKI   LABS
Made by people

Two brothers, one studio.

Kaliki Labs is built and run by two siblings from Andhra Pradesh, India, who happen to share the same surname, the same childhood, and a stubborn love for shipping useful software people actually keep installed.

Yuva Krishna Kaliki

Product, Design & Engineering · the architect.

Yuva is the patient one. He thinks about how an app should feel before he thinks about how it'll be built — then he builds it. He designs, codes, deploys and fixes bugs across the entire Kaliki Labs lineup. A Kaliki Labs app rarely surprises a user in the wrong way because Yuva owns it end-to-end, from sketch to shipped APK.

When he's not staring at design files or debugging a release, he's probably reading something that has nothing to do with technology. He believes the best software disappears into the task, and that good design is the discipline of saying no to features.

Jayakrishnaa Kaliki

Engineering & release ops · the builder.

Jayakrishnaa is the one who turns Yuva's prototypes into shipping APKs. He writes the code, fixes the crashes, wrestles with Android's release process, and ships the actual artefacts that end up on people's phones. SmartScan exists in users' phones because of him.

He cares about the small things, boot time, crash rate, the way a button feels when you tap it. Most of his weekends go into trimming a few KB off the APK or shaving 50ms off a screen transition. The result: apps that feel weirdly responsive on phones that are five years old.

Our story

Why we started Kaliki Labs.

"Kaliki" is our family name; "Labs" is what we'd jokingly call our shared workspace at home, a corner of the room with two laptops, three notebooks and a whiteboard that nobody is allowed to wipe. The name stuck.

We grew up using apps that were either expensive, unreliable, or quietly hostile to their users, apps that uploaded scans of our IDs to "the cloud" without saying so, that locked basic features behind aggressive paywalls, that pushed notifications begging us to come back. We started building the kind of apps we wished existed instead.

We wanted to install our own apps, on our own parents' phones, and feel good about it.

Our first public release is SmartScan, an offline document scanner we use ourselves every week. Pixdoc and GameArena are next, with more apps planned beyond that. We'll keep shipping every few months, small, focused tools we'd be happy to install on our own parents' phones.

Both of us read every email.

Feedback, bug reports, app ideas, or just a hello, write to us. We reply to every legitimate message, usually within a day or two.

Detailed bios, photographs and links will be added as the studio grows. The names above are real; the rest is the founders' best attempt at writing about themselves without sounding like a press release.
